Golden borscht with rye Semmelknoedel, fresh dill, marigolds and lovage blossoms. Last week our @imperfectproduce box included a golden beet so large that I could’ve hollowed it out and rented it for $75 a night on Airbnb. I also had some yellow bell peppers, white carrots, and Yukon gold potatoes, so it made sense! The Semmelknoedel are a German dumpling made from leftover bread — in this case, old pumpernickel rye and whole wheat hamburger buns — mixed with milk, beaten eggs, and sautéed onions. Lots of dill and black pepper in there, too. I combined these two foods as a nod to my German-Russian heritage, and it’s the perfect thing as we head into Juneuary. 💛 🌼 ✨ 💛 🌼 ✨#borscht #semmelknoedel #dumplings #knoedel #knödel #wastenotwantnot #golden #beets #soup #soupweather #vegetables #russianfood #germanfood #spring #flowers #leftovers #prettyfood #борщ #food52 #f52grams #buzzfeast #instafood #foodstagram #buzzfeedfood #huffposttaste #bonappetit #суп
